The Athletic reported a positive update recently suggesting three matches would be the length of time of the side lines for James, and we have just played one.
Lampard also said last night that he is hopeful that the injury is not bad.
Chilwell has also posted on his Instagram (via WAGNH) that he is also hopeful that his injury is “not so bad” after he rolled his ankle in the West Ham win last night.
But Lampard has confirmed that the England left back will go for scans today and he has at the very least ruled him out of the Arsenal game on Boxing Day.
As reported by Football London, he said:
“I expect he’ll be doubtful for Arsenal. He turned his ankle and tried to carry on but it was too painful. We’ll have a scan tomorrow to try and see how bad the injury is. We’ll update after.

So in conclusion, Lampard expects both to be out for one, two, or possibly more crucial games over Christmas. He continued:
“Reece and Chilly have been doing really well, we hope their injuries are not that bad and will be in and around the games over Christmas. So we’ll see.”
